BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – November 15, 2024 (PMO) – Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew
has officially declared 2025 the ‘Year of Recovery’ for St. Kitts and Nevis, outlining his
government’s achievements and strategies to rebuild and strengthen the nation’s economy. Speaking
during his guest appearance on Freedom FM’s Issues program on November 14, Dr. Drew
emphasized the significant strides made over the past year and set a clear vision for sustainable
growth in the years ahead.
Highlighting the economic measures implemented by his administration, the Prime Minister
reflected on initiatives designed to alleviate post-pandemic challenges and uplift citizens. These
included the distribution of two dividends under the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program, the
successful rollout of the Independence Reset program, additional salaries for civil servants,
increases in the minimum wage, and expanded Social Security benefits.
“We have done more for our people post-COVID than almost any other Caribbean country. From
extra salaries to increasing minimum wage and Social Security benefits, we are creating a
foundation for resilience and recovery,” Dr. Drew stated.
The Prime Minister emphasized that these initiatives are part of a larger strategy of his government
to diversify the economy and reduce reliance on any single revenue stream. “As we approach 2025,
the Year of Recovery, our focus remains on diversification and building resilience. We are
committed to creating a robust and sustainable economy that benefits every citizen of St. Kitts and
Nevis.”
As St. Kitts and Nevis gears up for 2025, Prime Minister Drew assured citizens that his
administration would continue working tirelessly to build on these achievements and foster a
brighter, more secure future. “The Year of Recovery is not just about rebuilding; it’s about creating
a future where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive”.
