The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) will convene a Youth Summit on Wednesday, 27th November 2024, at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park. This one-day forum is specifically organised for high school students and representatives from various youth organisations, with an anticipated attendance of approximately 85 participants.

Running from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, the summit will focus on two vital issues impacting the island: Climate Change and Citizen Security, with an emphasis on tackling crime and violence. The event is part of the island’s ongoing National 90-Day Campaign Against Crime and Violence, launched on 6th September 2024.

The morning sessions will feature insightful presentations by leading experts, including Family Counsellor Alicia Collins and Public Health Specialist Hance Richards, both of whom facilitated a vibrant Community Conversations consultation on 14th November at the Jessups Community Centre. That session inspired practical strategies to combat crime and violence across Nevis.

During the afternoon, participants will engage in interactive group activities to foster collaboration and creativity in addressing the featured topics. At 3:00 PM, Premier Mark Brantley and other NIA ministers will join the summit to participate in discussions with the young attendees, creating a platform for open dialogue between policymakers and the youth.

The Youth Summit underscores Nevis’ commitment to empowering its younger generation and ensuring their voices are central to the island’s future development.

The Citizen Security Secretariat joins the NIA in inviting all stakeholders to support this transformative initiative, which is critical to building a sustainable and secure future for Nevis.
