Government of St. Kitts and Nevis Unveils Vibrant “Independence 42” Calendar, Celebrating 42 Yearsof Sovereign Progress

On Thursday, November 21st, a research team from the Netherlands-originating company, OceansX, engaged in meaningful discussions as part of their scope assessment during their visit to St. Kitts and Nevis.

During a meeting with technical staff and other agricultural stakeholders, Founder of OceansX, Berend van de Kraats gave an overview of the project. He said the Xploration Coastline Concept is an adaptive water production and distribution concept using a network of mobile desalination maritime assets. This floating desalination plant is capable of producing more than 265,000 gallons of water per day.

This island overarching initiative aims to evaluate the potential of XCC to provide sustainable solutions for regional and island-bound water-related challenges (SDG6).

From the 2-day session, developed together with the local government, XCC will engage local stakeholders, communities, and relevant authorities in the development and assessment process, ensuring full alignment with community well-being and long-term impacts.

Global and local experts will collaboratively evaluate the technical, economic, and environmental viability of XCC, aiming to estimate the potential socioeconomic and health impact on local communities, focusing on immediate benefits and potential challenges.

The Xploration Coastline Concept (XCC) could significantly contribute to regional integrated water management, offering a unique, unboxed approach to crisis relief, climate resilience, food security, sustainability, and quality of life.

The assessment will provide a comprehensive evaluation of XCC’s feasibility and potential, laying the groundwork for informed decision-making of all participating and enabling stakeholders.
