Her Excellency Dr. Mutryce Williams, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations expressed the Government’s openness and willingness to seek new momentum for bilateral action as the Federation secures mutually beneficial partnerships for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Ambassador Williams pitched the Federation’s Sustainable Island State Agenda (SISA) and underscored the government’s intentionality on fostering a new development paradigm with bilateral partners that prioritizes sustainability, resilience, equity and inclusion.

The green and blue economy were therefore flagged as key areas for intensified cooperation. Ambassador Williams also touted the Federation’s light manufacturing, and cultural and creative sectors as fertile ground for renewed investment and trade as the Government aims to diversify its economy to ensure stability and security for Kittitians and Nevisians.

Both envoys pledged to work more closely in New York as they carve out new avenues for reorienting the partnership toward economic empowerment and social mobility. Ambassador Williams thanked the Government of Indonesia for the support extended over the years in vital areas such as agriculture, arts and crafts, training and capacity building and assured the delegation of the Federation’s full commitment to a revitalized relationship.

The meeting follows the Foreign Minister’s directive to consolidate traditional partnerships while diversifying the Federation’s diplomatic portfolio in emerging economies and high growth areas.

St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of Indonesia established diplomatic relations in 2014.
