The St. Peter’s Main Road project, which spans a 3.86-kilometer stretch from Ogees Ghaut to the Roundabout at Golden Rock, has been a long-awaited development for the St. Peter’s area, one of the fastest-growing communities in St. Kitts and Nevis.

The rehabilitation work includes significant upgrades to the road’s infrastructure, such as the construction of sidewalks, drainage improvements, and the development of a two-lane roundabout with four access points. Road safety features, including road studs (cat’s eyes), are also being implemented to improve visibility and safety for motorists and pedestrians alike.

Minister Maynard emphasized the project’s importance, stating, “This road rehabilitation project is an essential investment in St. Peter’s, as the area’s population has grown substantially. For many decades, this project has been a dream for the people of St. Peter’s, and now, we are turning that dream into reality.”

Contractor Mr. Hazel added that the project is designed with future growth in mind. “We are not designing the road for today; we are designing it for tomorrow,” he said, underscoring the project’s long-term sustainability.

Prime Minister Dr. Drew further encouraged the public to exercise caution as construction continues. “The road is under construction, so please drive with due caution and be respectful of pedestrians. We ask everyone to remain patient as we work to complete this project to the highest standards, ensuring that it lasts for many years to come.”

The rehabilitation of St. Peter’s Main Road is a key part of the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure across St. Kitts and Nevis. This includes road development projects in several other communities, such as Palmetto Point, Boyd’s Village, Newton Ghaut, and St. Paul’s.
