Ambassador Williams welcomed the chairmanship by underscoring her privilege and honour “to serve the Federation and our regional fraternity in this auspicious position.” Her Excellency further noted that “for the Permanent Mission and the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis this chairmanship exemplifies our ambition to contribute meaningfully to the work of the United Nations as we tackle critical issues like financing for development, sustainable development and climate action.”

The role of Chairmanship of GRULAC brings with it opportunities to strengthen the Federation’s relationships across Latin America and the Caribbean – an area which both the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister have identified for diplomatic and development prospects amid geoeconomic and geopolitical change.

The Group of Latin America and Caribbean Countries, or GRULAC, is one of the five United Nations Regional Groups composed of 33 Member States from Central and South America and the Caribbean.
