The Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas Welcomes Peruvian Ambassador

Basseterre, Saint Kitts (21st January 2025) — In a significant step towards
strengthening diplomatic ties, the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of
Foreign Affairs et al., warmly welcomed His Excellency Gustavo Felipe José Lembcke
Hoyle, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru, during a courtesy call on 21st January 2025.
During this meeting, Ambassador Lembcke conveyed his government’s commitment to
promoting political and economic dialogue with Saint Kitts and Nevis through various
mechanisms such as technical agreements and strategic programming. He also
emphasized Peru’s multilateral initiatives aimed at bolstering cooperation with the
Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM), targeting critical matters such
as natural disaster risk prevention and management and food security.

Foreign Minister Douglas expressed his appreciation for Peru’s proactive engagement
with the region and identified education, diplomatic training and cultural heritage as
promising avenues for mutual collaboration. These areas were highlighted as a pathway
for greater dialogue and understanding between the two nations.
By focusing on shared priorities and interests, this meeting held between the Right
Honourable Minister and the Peruvian Ambassador has laid the foundation for a robust
partnership between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Peru, with positive prospects for regional
and bilateral growth in the future.
