Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 19, 2025 (PMO)– The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis led by Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew, continues to place the welfare of the Federation above partisan interests. This approach has been particularly evident in collaborative efforts addressing critical issues such as national security, sustainable energy, economic diversification, and social development.

Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to collaboration in addressing national challenges, noting that cooperation across political lines is essential for the country’s long-term prosperity. During a recent radio interview, Prime Minister Drew emphasized, “Our commitment is to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis. By transcending party lines and working together, we can achieve remarkable milestones that benefit the entire nation. When we put the country first, we all win.”

One of the most significant examples of bipartisan collaboration is the landmark geothermal energy project, which is being spearheaded through joint efforts between the Federal Government and the Nevis Island Administration (NIA). The project, backed by international partners such as the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and the Saudi Fund for Development, represents a unified effort to secure clean, affordable, and sustainable energy for the Federation. With drilling expected to commence this year, the initiative is a major step toward reducing electricity costs, cutting carbon emissions, and positioning St. Kitts and Nevis as a leader in renewable energy within the Caribbean.

Prime Minister Drew underscored the significance of the collaboration between St. Kitts and Nevis, stating, “This is a tremendous achievement for the Federation. Despite political differences, this project proves that when we come together for the good of our people, we can accomplish great things.”

Beyond energy, the government’s inclusive approach has been pivotal in addressing national security concerns. Under Dr. Drew’s leadership, the government has partnered with law enforcement agencies and key stakeholders to bolster crime prevention strategies, enhance policing capabilities, and implement community-based safety programs. This commitment to security has yielded tangible improvements in crime reduction and public safety, reinforcing the Federation’s reputation as a stable and secure destination for both residents and investors.

Additionally, Prime Minister Drew has prioritized economic diversification, moving away from an overreliance on the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program. Through strategic investments in technology, agriculture, infrastructure, and entrepreneurship, the government aims to create new job opportunities, reduce economic vulnerabilities, and empower citizens with sustainable career paths.

Prime Minister Drew also stressed the importance of accountability in governance, particularly in light of past mismanagement of public funds. He reiterated that his administration is focused on transparency and long-term planning, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to benefit all citizens.

To this end, Prime Minister Drew urged citizens and political leaders alike to focus on nation-building rather than political divisiveness, emphasizing that St. Kitts and Nevis can only thrive when all sectors work together toward shared goals.
