Taipei, Republic of China (Taiwan), (March 19, 2025) – The Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Foreign Affairs Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, emphasized the country’s ongoing support for its longstanding, trusted ally, Taiwan. He stated that this support extends as Taiwan seeks to gain membership in international organizations such as the United Nations (UN), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

While addressing reporters in Taiwan on March 19, the Minister stated, “We continue to support Taiwan, even though we recognize the existing policy at the United Nations.” He added, “We believe Taiwan has a significant contribution to make to the advancement of humanity.”

Taiwan is a leader in many areas including public health and smart healthcare. Minister Douglas explained that when the Federation makes presentations at the World Health Assembly, the question often arises: Why is Taiwan not contributing its voice to global health discussions at the WHO?

Saint Kitts and Nevis is also actively supportive of Taiwan’s efforts to secure a significant voice in the aviation sector, particularly within the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The nation recognizes the importance of Taiwan’s participation in global aviation discussions and advocates for its inclusion in order to ensure that all voices are heard in shaping international aviation policies.

“We rationalize in a very clear way where we believe Taiwan can make a contribution to the progress of global affairs,” Douglas said.

Saint Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan have maintained a mutually beneficial relationship for four decades, collaborating on numerous development initiatives.
