Antalya, Turkiye (14 April 2025)— Foreign Minister Dr. Douglas took part in a roundtable discussion here in Antalya, Turkey, along with representatives from the government of a Turkiye, Panama, Guatemala, Costa Rica, the private sector of Mexico and the Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States.

The Rt. Hon. Dr Denzil Douglas arrived in Turkiye at the invitation of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum to share his perspectives on opportunities for Latin America and the Caribbean in a changing global landscape. The Foreign Minister insisted, during his presentation that “despite growing tendencies towards polarisation; multilateralism remains integral to our efforts to build stronger and more sustainable nations.” He stressed that there is a need for greater cooperation among countries of the global south, including pooling certain strategic elements for common benefit.

The Foreign Minister emphasised the importance of promoting dialogue, investing in youth, and forging greater people-to-people links. “I think,” the Foreign Minister concluded that, “notwithstanding the polarisation, the world needs us as countries, and citizen-leaders to commit to greater integration, not less. We must, therefore, improve communication and transportation links and work together to explore and pool energy resources.”
