His Excellency Donya L. Francis, Saint Kitts and Nevis’ Ambassador to Taiwan, presented the books to the Deputy Mayor of Taichung City, Mr. Huang, Kuo Jung.

In his remarks, Ambassador Francis noted that April 23, which is observed as World Book and Copyright Day, coincides perfectly with the auspicious event which spotlights various authors from Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The books donated were ‘Masquerade Dance’ and ‘Adventure at Brimstone Hill’ by Carol Ottley-Mitchell, Kayrisa Kelly’s ‘My ABC Book About St. Kitts and Nevis’, Keimon Archibald-Lake’s ‘Oma Lu’s visit’, Vanessa Webbe’s ‘Cricket and Coconut Cake’ and ‘Global Wings: Flying to Saint Kitts and Nevis’—a book published by Yuan Ze University’s Global Cultural Initiative, with contributors from Saint Kitts and Nevis including His Excellency Donya L. Francis and Yitzak D. Bass.

“They are more than pages bound together; they are windows into our history, our values, our aspirations and our people,” said Ambassador Francis.

Deputy Mayor Mr. Huang says the Taichung City Government is eager to make the books available for all residents to read. Mr. Huang noted that the books will be proudly displayed in a new library but citizens from all over will be able to borrow them via an online system to be delivered to the closest library for convenient pick-up.

Kittitian students pursuing undergraduate studies in International Business and Trade at Ming Chuan University, Howard Liburd and Jahmarley Riley, gave a lively performance of the masquerade dance at the ceremony.

This initiative is part of the Embassy’s ‘Sharing Kindness and Nurturing Love—SKNLOVE’ outreach program and is the fifth in a series of book donations.

The Embassy donated books to Taipei City in June 2022, Kaohsiung City in March 2023, New Taipei City in March 2024 and Yunlin County in October 2024.
