Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 07, 2025 (SKNBS): The St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards (SKNBS) is urging all businesses—ranging from formal enterprises to roadside vendors—to ensure full compliance with national labelling regulations by December 31, 2025.
This critical reminder applies to all goods sold within the Federation, whether locally produced, imported, or distributed informally. Specifically, the regulations to be followed include:
· Labelling of Goods
· Labelling of Pre-packaged Food
· Labelling of Bottled Water
The Bureau emphasizes that no business is exempt from these requirements, which are intended to promote transparency, consumer safety, and product accountability.
Key Requirements for Local Businesses:
· Roadside Vendors: Any vendor selling pre-packaged food, snacks, or beverages must ensure that each item has an appropriate label. Labels must include essential information such as ingredients, expiration dates, and contact details.
· Caterers: Businesses offering pre-packaged meals for delivery or events must also comply. Labels must be affixed to each meal and beverage, clearly displaying required consumer information.
· Local Manufacturers/Producers: Producers of baked goods, drinks, jams, jellies, and other locally made items must meet full labelling standards in accordance with national regulations.
The SKNBS has stressed that the December 31, 2025 deadline is final. Businesses that fail to comply risk facing penalties, which may include fines, product seizure, or the suspension of sales.
For assistance or more information on the labelling regulations, businesses are encouraged to contact the Bureau at 467-1498 or via email at sknbs@gov.kn. The full set of regulations is also available online at www.sknbs.org under the “Regulations” tab.

This initiative forms part of the Bureau’s ongoing efforts to improve product safety, consumer protection, and market consistency across St. Kitts and Nevis.
