United Nations, New York, (June 4, 2025) – The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis is making its diplomatic mark at the United Nations, capping a powerful week with election to the hub of sustainable development policy making – the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The campaign, announced in April, seeks to level up the Federation’s diplomacy and development policy across the United Nations system. According to the United Nations “ECOSOC brings people and issues together to promote collective action for a sustainable world. At the centre of the UN development system, we conduct cutting-edge analysis, agree on global norms and advocate for progress. Our collective solutions advance sustainable development.”

St. Kitts and Nevis was among eighteen countries elected for the term 2026-2028 which promises to be active as the global community race to inject momentum into the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a shared blueprint adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015. It aims to secure the rights and well-being of everyone on a healthy, thriving planet through 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
