Basseterre, St. Kitts- Tuesday, 22nd July 2025 –The Ministry of Environment, Climate Action and Constituency Empowerment invites community groups to take the lead in building resilience against climate change by applying for funding under the newly launched Communities Climate Adaptation Facility (C-CAF).
C-CAF, a global initiative of the Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM), is being introduced in Saint Kitts and Nevis for the first time. It offers funding of up to USD $100,000 to support community-led, locally driven projects that boost resilience, improve livelihoods, and safeguard ecosystems from climate change. The facility is designed to make funding more accessible and responsive, enabling vulnerable communities to implement timely solutions to climate challenges through a streamlined application process.
Eligible applicants include registered or unregistered community groups, informal networks (such as volunteer-based or organized community initiatives without formal registered status), cooperatives, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) working directly within communities. Private sector and public institutions are not eligible to apply directly but may partner with community groups on project implementation. Funding is available for projects in areas such as ecosystem restoration, climate-smart agriculture, water conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and educational research. These areas all aim at helping communities adapt effectively to climate impacts.
Application forms and guidelines are available from the Department of Constituency Empowerment’s Office at Unit A2, Sands Complex, Bay Road, Basseterre or email DCE@gov.kn. The deadline for submitting completed applications is Friday, August 15, 2025, at 4:00 PM.
