Government of St. Kitts and Nevis Announces Additional Discounted VAT Rate Day Following Hurricane Erin

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts and Nevis – August 16, 2025 – The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis announces an additional Discounted VAT Rate Day on Saturday, August 23, 2025, to support residents and businesses impacted by the adverse weather conditions from the passage of Hurricane Erin on August 16, 2025. Please note that vehicles remain ineligible for the discounted VAT rate.

  2. Remain indoors during any storm passage and avoid flood-prone areas.
  3. Follow updates from official and trusted sources (e.g. National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service (SKNIS) and local radio stations)

“The safety and resilience of our people remain our utmost priority,” stated Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew. “While we provide economic relief through initiatives like the Discounted VAT Days, we equally emphasize the need for continued caution. The Government is mobilizing all resources to protect and support every citizen and resident throughout this hurricane season.”
