Background: The efficient operation of the Department of Technology depends heavily on the timely delivery of correspondence, documents, and materials. The Driver/Messenger plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of communication and logistics between departments, ministries, and external agencies. By providing dependable driving services, maintaining government vehicles in proper working condition, and carrying out messenger duties with integrity and discretion, the Driver/Messenger supports the overall effectiveness and professionalism of the Ministry.
Description of Post: The Driver/Messenger is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation and messenger services for the Department. The person occupying this position must be capable of maintaining confidentiality, demonstrating excellent time management, and ensuring that assigned tasks are completed promptly. The Driver/Messenger is responsible for operating and maintaining government vehicles, transporting officers, delivering official documents, mail, and packages, and performing related support duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities for the post include, but are not limited to the following:
- Safely operate government vehicles to transport staff and materials as directed.
- Deliver and collect official correspondence, documents, and packages in a timely
manner. - Maintain accurate logbooks of vehicle use, fuel consumption, and mileage.
- Ensure regular cleaning of vehicles and report any defects or required maintenance.
- Assist in loading and unloading goods or materials as required.
- Observe traffic laws to ensure passenger and vehicle safety.
- Maintain confidentiality of documents and information being transported.
- Perform other related duties that may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Completion of secondary school education or equivalent.
- At least 3 years’ experience in driving with knowledge of the roadways of St. Kitts and Nevis.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills required.

- Alertness and attentiveness while driving.
- High level of honesty and integrity.
- Dependability – individual must be reliable, responsible, and punctual.
- Strong sense of confidentiality.
- Good communication skills – verbal and written.
- Courteous, respectful, and professional demeanor.
- Ability to follow instructions with minimum supervision.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and care.
- Ability to plan routes and manage delivery schedules.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Team player with a cooperative attitude.
Salary: K7-K17 ($21,096 – $33,156) per annum
