The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis also extends sincere appreciation to Prime Minister the Most Hon. Andrew Holness and the Government of Jamaica for their invaluable support and cooperation throughout the process. Their swift facilitation, coordination, and commitment to regional partnership ensured that our students received every necessary assistance on the ground. The Government further acknowledges the efforts of Jamaican officials, airport authorities, and university representatives who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the evacuation smooth and safe.

Special thanks are extended to Mrs. Rodina M. Reid, Honorary Consul for St. Kitts and Nevis in Jamaica, for her tireless on-the-ground support and coordination. Her responsiveness and care were instrumental in safeguarding the well-being of our nationals. As well as to the students and their families for their patience, cooperation, and trust throughout the evacuation effort.

The Government reiterates its steadfast support for all its citizens abroad. For those students who have remained in Jamaica, the Government has ensured they are safely accommodated and are in regular contact with our officials. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them, with the people of Jamaica, and with all in the path of this storm,” stated Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew . “As the Government continues to monitor Hurricane Melissa’s progress and maintain direct contact with our nationals and regional partners, we also look ahead to the recovery.

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis stands in full solidarity with the Government and people of Jamaica and is prepared to offer assistance in the aftermath of the hurricane in any way it can. Our commitment to our citizens and our regional brothers and sisters remains steadfast.”
