Taipei, Republic of China (Taiwan), (3rd November 2025) —The Embassy of Saint Christopher (Saint Kitts) and Nevis to the Republic of China (Taiwan) received a prestigious award for its visibility and impact as an Embassy in Taiwan.

His Excellency Donya L. Francis, Ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the Republic of China (Taiwan), accepted the “Most Outstanding Embassy” award at the 79th Golden Merchant Awards Ceremony on October 31, 2025, at the Howard Plaza Hotel in Taipei.

This prestigious recognition highlights the Embassy’s unwavering commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation between Saint Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan), particularly through trade, business, investment and cultural and public diplomacy initiatives.

As the Federation’s youngest Ambassador, His Excellency Ambassador Francis emphasizes his motivation to execute his mandate with virtuosity, creativity, vibrance and sustainability in mind.

“Since assuming the role of Ambassador in 2022, our Embassy has intensified its efforts to enhance the visibility of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Taiwan,” Ambassador Francis stated. “Our Embassy has also placed added focus on spotlighting the significant benefits for businesses seeking partnerships with Taiwan’s diplomatic allies, like Saint Kitts and Nevis.”

Ambassador Francis refers to initiatives ranging from the 2025 Saint Kitts and Nevis Trade and Investment Seminar, where Minister of Foreign Affairs et al, the Rt. Honourable Dr. Denzil L. Douglas spoke to dozens of potential investors, initiating conversations about investment and partnership, to the Embassy’s active participation in cultural activities across Taiwan, including the Taipei International Travel Fair, Lantern Festivals, school tours, and library book donations.

Ahead of the ceremony, His Excellency Ambassador Donya L. Francis joined Taiwan’s Vice President, Her Excellency Hsiao Bi-khim and other awardees of the 79th Golden Merchant Award at the President’s Office on Tuesday, 28th October, in celebration of the overall collaboration between the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Taiwanese businesses, counterparts and foreign allies and friends.

The Golden Merchant Awards, established by the General Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of China (Taiwan), is one of the most prestigious recognitions in Taiwan’s business community. It celebrates outstanding contributions to trade, investment, economic growth, and international cooperation.

Receipt of this award underscores the Embassy’s continued dedication to fostering mutual understanding, economic collaboration, and cultural exchange, strengthening the long-standing friendship between Saint Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan).
