Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis (16 January 2026) – The Ministry of Foreign
Affairs warmly received the Her Excellency, Fiona Ramsey, the newly appointed
Ambassador of the European Union to Saint Kitts and Nevis, during a courtesy call
on Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Rt Honourable Denzil Douglas. On 14 January
2026.
Dr Douglas, the Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed Ambassador Ramsey to the
twin-island federation and highlighted the longstanding and mutually beneficial
relationship between Saint Kitts and Nevis and the European Union for over several
years.
Climate change, transition to renewable energy and the expansion of trade relations
with Europe were key areas of discussion during the courtesy visited. Dr. Douglas
reaffirmed Saint Kitts and Nevis commitment to open communication and
collaboration with the European Union as the federation continue its thrust towards
a Sustainable Island State.
Ambassador Ramsey noted that global partnerships and cooperation remains
essential to the European Union within the Caribbean region.
