Basseterre, Saint Kitts, March 30, 2026 (PMO) — Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to proactive leadership, emphasizing that the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis is deliberately positioning the Federation to stay ahead in an increasingly complex and competitive global environment.
Speaking during the Cabinet-wide press conference held on March 30, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of agility, innovation, and strategic engagement in navigating shifting geopolitical and economic realities.
“We understand the direction of the geopolitics, and therefore we have to make sure that we are nimble, pragmatic, innovative, and that we stay ahead of the game,” Dr. Drew stated.
The Prime Minister stressed that opportunities for growth and advancement must be actively pursued, noting that the Government has adopted an outward-looking and assertive approach to diplomacy, partnerships, and economic engagement.
“Nobody is going to bring the opportunity to you or to us and rest it on our lap. We have to be innovative, we have to be proactive. We have to establish relationship which would allow us to meet our objective,” he said.
Dr. Drew highlighted that this approach extends beyond government-to-government relations, encouraging citizens to actively engage in building international connections that can translate into opportunities at home.
“So the world is not always coming to us, as I mentioned, we have to make sure if they don’t come to us, we go to them… the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis can meet people in other countries, in other lands, and establish relationships which would allow us to create opportunities for all of us here in Saint Kitts and Nevis,” the Prime Minister added.
The Government’s forward-thinking strategy, he noted, is anchored in a shared vision across Cabinet, with each minister contributing to a unified national development agenda that places people at the center.
