New York, New York, (Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations) (August 26, 2026) – The Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations joined Ambassador Tom Chih-chiang Lee of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in New York in welcoming a delegation of Taiwanese youth ambassadors for an engagement focused on strengthening people-to-people ties and mutual understanding.
The engagement brought together H.E. Ambassador Dr. Mutryce Williams, Permanent Representative of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, H.E. Ambassador Vynnette Frederick, Permanent Representative of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to the United Nations, along with members of their respective teams, representatives of TECO, and members of the diplomatic corps. The gathering provided an opportunity for diplomats and staff to interact directly with the visiting students and exchange perspectives on culture, youth engagement and international friendship.
Ambassador Williams and Ambassador Frederick offered brief remarks, with Ambassador Williams expressing her enthusiasm for engaging with the students and emphasizing the value of youth exchanges. She noted her strong belief that people-to-people connections are at the heart of lasting international relationships. While diplomacy has an important role to play, direct interaction among people creates opportunities to build friendships, deepen cultural understanding and develop connections that extend beyond official relations.
The visiting delegation, comprising 35 youth ambassadors and members of the Taiwan International Youth Ambassadors Association, is travelling to St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Vincent and the Grenadines from August 24 to September 6 under the theme “Youth Take Wing, Taiwan Soars.”
St. Kitts and Nevis welcomes these opportunities for meaningful youth engagement and looks forward to continued people-to-people exchanges that strengthen friendship and understanding between the peoples of St. Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan.
