Basseterre, Saint Kitts, February 18, 2026 (PMO): Prime Minister and CARICOM Chair, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, has confirmed that approximately 95 percent of CARICOM Heads of Government have committed to attend the 50th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government, scheduled for February 24–27, 2026, in St. Kitts.
Speaking during yesterday’s, February 17th, Round Table engagement with the media, Prime Minister Drew described the level of commitment from regional leaders as a strong vote of confidence in the collective mission of CARICOM and in Saint Kitts and Nevis as host nation.
“So far, I can say that if not 100 percent, 95 percent of leaders have committed,” the Prime Minister stated, while expressing appreciation to his fellow Heads for their cooperation and engagement.
The 50th Sitting is particularly significant as it marks a historic milestone for the Community, taking place amid evolving global dynamics, security considerations, and economic challenges affecting small states.
Prime Minister Drew emphasized that his approach as Chair has been proactive and rooted in unity.
“There is no secret that CARICOM has been challenged and that the region has been challenged significantly because of the geopolitical situation,” he noted, adding, “But I have taken a very direct approach, one based on hope, pragmatism, and results.”
In addition to regional leadership, international partners and special guests are expected to be represented at the Meeting, continuing the tradition of strong engagement between CARICOM and its global partners.
The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis remains fully engaged in final logistical preparations to ensure the successful hosting of this landmark regional gathering.
