“TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE,”  IS DRIVING REASON TO SERVE SAYS FIVE NEW POLICE ENLISTEES

new-enlistees-taking-oath-of-enlistmentBasseterre, St. Kitts, December 05, 2016 (RSCNPF): In a brief but significant ceremony on Friday (December 2) in the Office of the Commissioner of Police five young individuals took the oath of enlistment to serve as officers in the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.

The new enlistees are Kylon Lake of Tabernacle Village and Dellon Dasent from Lime Kiln St. Kitts and Kareem Romney of Bath Village, Francklyn Luc – a Haitian National residing in Prospect, and Cherice Williams of Jessups Village, Nevis.

In attendance at the ceremony were members of the Police High Command who gave encouraging and guiding words to the new enlistees.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Merclyn Hughes commended the enlistees on their desire to serve and make a difference in St. Kitts and Nevis, while Assistant Commissioner Andre Mitchell highlighted that with this step forward a sincere and continued commitment will be required. He told the group that discipline will be required to be good officers and added, that Policing is fun.

ACP Terrance James told the enlistees, that personal and organizational integrity was paramount, and they should guard it. He told the new signees to seek out and emulate the positive examples they see in the Police Force, and told them to prepare themselves for continued growth.

Deputy Brandy underscored the comments of the group and challenged the batch to be the best they can be. He also said that despite policing being fun, it also has unique challenges, and urged them to embrace and overcome.

Commissioner Queeley commended the new signees for answering a call to serve, he challenged them to be men and women of integrity, admonished them to embrace the good things they see in the Police Service and to be instruments of change in shaping the future of the Police Service.

The five enlistees will join Police Training Class 41 which will begin training in early 2017.
