The academic report from Principal Condell is expected to include the positive performance of students who entered two sporting competitions that took place at the beginning of this term. The Horsfords Department of Sports Tennis Competition took place 3 and 4 May at Warner Park showcased team excellence. Casey Walters and Samani Williams, along with Devak Deepak and Mhoraijhat Hajarie assumed second place for their age divisions in tennis doubles. Casey Walters, Rayven Blake, Jhonathan Francis and Lyndalie Woodley placed second in their age divisions in tennis singles. The GMSS Cricket Team entered the 4th Annual Scotia Bank Kiddies Cricket Competition on 5 May and 11 May, and made it to the semi-finals of the competition.

Board reports will give more detail as to the operational and financial situation of the school. Of great importance is the proposal for the new school premises to chart a viable way into the future.

The close of the term will see the school moving from the St. Johnson’s Community Centre and temporarily returning to the Factory Social Centre which is currently being transformed into a safe zone for students and teachers. Currently, work includes the removal of the section of roof that contained “suspected asbestos”. In addition, there is the construction of a new roof and the overall refurbishment of the entire premises.
