BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 18th, 2018 (PRESS SEC) – From yesterday’s historic meeting held at Downing Street – the iconic address of both the office and official residence of UK Prime Minister Theresa May – St. Kitts-Nevis Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris’ packed schedule took him today to another major London landmark: Buckingham Palace, the administrative headquarters of the Monarch.

There, Prime Minister Harris had a private audience with Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, the only daughter of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II.

Princess Anne’s mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is Head of the Commonwealth and the world’s longest-reigning monarch.  The Queen is turning 92 years old this Saturday, April 21st, 2018.

Today, the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis briefed Anne, Princess Royal KG KT GCVO GCStJ QSO GCL CD on recent developments in the Federation and shared his country’s hopes for a successful Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Her Royal Highness Princess Anne later took photos with Prime Minister Harris in a picturesque setting that featured a pair of horse paintings as the pièce de résistance. Princess Anne is an avid equestrian, who rode at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, Canada.

The Honourable Prime Minister’s next engagement was with Prime Minister of Canada the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau.

The meeting was focused on expectations coming out of Canada’s assumption of the Presidency of the Group of Seven (G7), which comprises the seven richest economies in the world. Attendees of the high-level meeting with Prime Minister Trudeau discussed Canada’s advocacy for Commonwealth member states that are not part of the G7.

Canada assumed the one-year G7 Presidency on January 1st and will welcome leaders to Charlevoix, Quebec for the annual G7 Summit from June 8th – 9th, 2018.

Prime Minister Theresa May will host Prime Minister Harris and other Commonwealth Heads of Government at a dinner and reception today.
