Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris extends his heartfelt condolences, and those of the Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis, to the family and loved ones of Mr. Clement David Obadiah Williams, who is affectionately known as Bouncin.  Mr. Bouncin Williams has died at the age of 70 years old.

“Bouncin possessed inventive and multifaceted talent that made him excel in a number of arenas, including acting, writing, teaching mathematics and natural sciences, as well as directing and producing community theatre,” Prime Minister Harris said today, Friday, August 31st, 2018.

“His big, effervescent personality, sharp wit and incisive socio-political commentary leave a lasting impact that reminds us to laugh and enjoy life more, while inspiring us to be our best authentic selves and the best guardians of our country’s cherished values,” the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis added.

In his autobiography titled My Early Life on St. Kitts and Nevis, Mr. Clement Bouncin Williams lovingly detailed the values and lessons that were instilled in him by his mother, Miss Lucille, a food vendor whom he described as an iconic figure within the community of Newtown.

Mr. Bouncin Williams, who resided at Bird Rock, was born in Newtown, St. Kitts on August 13th, 1948.  He was said to be a “bouncing baby boy” weighing 10 pounds and 13 ounces at birth.

Bouncin would grow up to graduate from the University of the West Indies and the University of Reading with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science, respectively.

In 2006, he was named to the Electoral Reform Consultative Committee, which spent over 10 weeks that year consulting with citizens and residents of St. Kitts and Nevis, and also with nationals living abroad.  Their findings and recommendations were published in a report dated January 2007.

In 2015, Mr. Williams was invested with the Companion Star of Merit (CSM) for his contributions to the advancement of science, education and culture.  It is one of the highest civilian honours that the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis bestows on its sons and daughters.

Prime Minister Harris extends deepest sympathy to Bouncin’s wife, Mrs. Cynthia V. Williams, his son, Clement Jomo Williams, and his daughter, Jihan Adika Williams.
