THIRTY-FOUR RECRUITS READY TO GRADUATE FROM POLICE TRAINING SCHOOL ON DECEMBER 18

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 17, 2018 (SKNIS): Thirty-four recruits, 32 males and two females, have successfully completed a rigorous six-month training course and are set to join the ranks as full-fledged constables in the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF).
 
The members of Course 42 will officially receive their badge numbers at the 41^st Graduation Ceremony, more popularly referred to as the Passing Out Parade. The event takes place at the Police Training Complex tomorrow, Tuesday (December 18, 2018), at 5 p.m.
 
During the training period, some of the law enforcement trainees covered courses including evidence and procedure, criminal law, general duties and community policing. The recruits also learned about first aid, customer service, and human rights, among others areas designed to enable them to be professional and courteous when carrying out their duties.
 
Instructor Corporal Derrell Boon noted that the group responded well during the course, and the contest for the best overall recruit was very competitive. In the end, Recruit Wendell Edwards earned the top spot and emerged as the valedictorian of Course 42. The young man from St. Vincent and the Grenadines said he is pleased to have earned the honour of Best Recruit.
 
“It has a special meaning to me because I would have worked very hard in achieving this feat and it holds a special place in my heart,” he said.
 
Recruit Edwards added that he was excited to share “the experiences, and the trials and tribulations” during the training, and how the group “was able to overcome the challenges” during the recruit overview address.
 
Corporal Boon said that he also looked forward to the course’s graduation, noting that the drill display should be of a high quality. He pointed to the group’s exceptional performance in July during the street march of the Ministry of National Security/RSCNPF Explorers Group Camp, as well as their excellent display at the 35^th Anniversary Independence Day Parade. Platoon 6, comprised exclusively of recruits, was adjudged the Best Armed Unit on Parade. Recruits also finished in the first and third spot of the Independence Drill Display Competition this past September.
 
“They like to put on a show,” Corporal Boon said, noting that the public is in for a treat during the ceremony from the members of Course 42.
