SAINT CHRISTOPHER AND NEVIS

No.   of 2019

A BILL to provide for the period within which a question of no confidence must be addressed by the National Assembly and for related matters.

BE IT ENACTED by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the National Assembly of Saint Christopher and Nevis, and by the authority of the same as follows:

1.​Short title.

​This Act may be cited as the Motion of No Confidence Act, 2019.

2.​Interpretation.

​In this Act,

​“Constitution” means the Saint Christopher and Nevis Constitution Order 1983 as ​​set out in the Fourth Schedule to the West Indies Act, Cap. 1.01; and

​ “National Assembly Elections Act” means the National Assembly Elections Act, ​​​Cap 2.01.

3.​Timeline for Resolution of No Confidence.

​Where a question of no confidence in the Government is brought before the National Assembly, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and the National Assembly Elections Act, the question of no confidence shall be determined by Resolution of the National Assembly within a period not exceeding twenty one days.
