2021-2022 ACADEMIC YEAR COMMEMORATED WITH FIRST PRINCIPALS’ MEETING

Basseterre: St. Kitts, Thursday, August 26th, 2021:​ Principalsfrom both the private and public sector of education in St. Kitts, assembled at the Immaculate Catholic Conception School(ICCS) Auditorium on Thursday, August 26th 2021, to commemorate the start of the 2021-2022 Academic year. 

Addressing the principals, for the first time in his capacity as Chief Education Officer, Mr. Francil Morris, voiced his excitement for the start of the upcoming school year, and urged the principals to continue working collaboratively with the Ministry of Education, for the benefit of the students.

“We are currently in a changing environment as we are aware, because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Nevertheless, I’m quite excited about the opportunities that are before us, and even the challenges that lie ahead. I am excited about the challenges because I am blessed with a dedicated team of leaders, both Education Officers and Principals,” stated Mr. Morris. “We have worked well in the past as colleagues and I am sure we will continue that same working relationship in the future. I continue to count on your support as we move forward to conquer the challenges ahead. Together we will build a strong network of educational professionals as we aspire to brighten the children’s future,” concluded Mr. Morris.

Mrs. Lisa Pistana, the newly appointed Deputy Chief EducationOfficer, in her brief remarks to the principals pledge her continued support as they work together to ensure that theacademic year is a success.

“I do know for us as leaders, it is expected for us to serve. I certainly intend to serve you, as principals, your deputies and by extension, your staff,” expressed Mrs. Pistana. “As we go forth in this new academic year 2021-2022, I pledge my continued support not only in my new role as Deputy Chief Education Officer, but also as a colleague to you. It is my hope that we can work in tandem so that whatever the ministry mandates, we can implement it and encourage our teachers to do the same.”

Both Mr. Morris and Mrs. Pistana expressed gratitude to theMinistry of Education for the opportunity to continue serving in a new capacity.
