BASSETERRE, ST. Kitts, May 13, 2022 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris has expressed a profound sense of sorrow on the passing of the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan.

Sheikh Khalifa passed away on Friday, May 13. He was President of the UAE since 2004.

In an official statement, Prime Minister Harris said, “As one of the elder statesmen of the Arab and Islamic world, Sheikh Khalifa presided over the rapid advancement of his beloved United Arab Emirates and lived to see his country become an influential player on the global stage.”

“Sheikh Khalifa’s determination and drive were only matched by his deep love for the people of the United Arab Emirates,” the Prime Minister added. 

Dr. Harris ended his statement by extending deepest condolences on behalf of the Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis on the passing of Sheikh Khalifa, noting that the Federation “stands by the people of the UAE in their time of grief.”

Sheikh Khalifa died at the age of 73.
