PASTORS’ CONFERENCE IN ST KITTS AND NEVIS FOSTERS UNITY AND ADDRESSES CONTEMPORARY ISSUES

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 30, 2023 (SKNIS): Church leaders across St. Kitts came together on Thursday (November 30, 2023), for a Pastors’ Conference organized by the Ministry of Ecclesiastical and Faith-based Affairs, in collaboration with the St. Kitts Christian Council, Evangelical Association and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

The conference was held under the theme “Uniting in Faith for Purpose” and was held at the CUNA Caribbean Conference Room. More than 50 church representatives came together to explore various topics including Pastoral/Ministerial Ethics in a Changing World, and the Role of Pastors in Grief Counseling. The 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. conference also featured a panel discussion on Biblical and Pastoral Responses to Issues of Human Sexuality and Gender Diversity.

Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Ecclesiastical and Faith-based Affairs, the Honourable Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, expressed gratitude to the participants for their continued support throughout the year.

Acting Prime Minister Dr. Hanley thanks the church leaders for their support

“For a ministry that started just over 14 months ago … we have done extremely well. All of the signature projects or activities that we targeted for this year we were able to complete and I am extremely happy for the support that all of you have given to this ministry,” he stated.

Several projects successfully implemented in 2023, included the Inaugural National Day of Prayer in February, a Forum on Intellectual Property and the Church, in March, as well as multiple engagement sessions with all faith-based groups.

The Honourable Dr. Geoffrey Hanley commended the gathering’s success and the progress of the ministry. He highlighted several 2023 achievements, including the National Day of Prayer, a Forum on Intellectual Property and the Church, and various faith-based group engagements.

Looking ahead, Dr. Hanley promised exciting developments for 2024, notably the planned establishment of a new cemetery in Sandy Point, signalling continued growth and support for the faith-based community in St. Kitts and Nevis.
