Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 02, 2024 (SKNIS): In a move towards environmental sustainability, the Federal Parliament of St. Kitts and Nevis successfully passed the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (Agreement) Bill, 2024, on Friday, August 02.
Spearheaded by the Honourable Senator and Minister responsible for Sustainable Development, Environment and Climate Action, and Constituency Empowerment, Dr. Joyelle Clarke, this pivotal legislation underscores St. Kitts and Nevis’ commitment to regional cooperation and sustainable development. The Bill aims to strengthen the nation’s partnership with the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), fostering collaborative efforts to address the pressing challenges posed by climate change.

The Bill’s successful passage is a testament to the collaborative spirit within the Federal Parliament and the shared commitment to a sustainable future. The CCCCC was established to coordinate the region’s response to climate change. The Centre provides climate-related policy advice and guidelines, conducts research, and facilitates access to financial and technical resources to support climate resilience and sustainable development efforts in the Caribbean.
