BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, December 18, 2024 (SKNIS) – With the addition of several key airline services to the destination in 2024, the Ministry of Tourism, through the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA), will introduce a new common-use platform for airlines in February 2025, ensuring continued efficiency and enhancing visitor experience.

During her Budget presentation in the National Assembly on December 18, 2024, Minister of Tourism, the Honourable Marsha Henderson, said that the new common-use platforms, being rolled out in partnership with SITA – a global air transport IT company – will allow airlines to work seamlessly at the Robert L. Bradshaw (RLB) International Airport by sharing check-in desks, kiosks and boarding areas.

Minister Henderson said SITA representatives made a recent visit to the RLB International Airport and successfully established connections with SCASPA and the airlines operating at the airport.

“The new common-use platform, which is set to go live in February 2025, will improve efficiency for airlines and ground staff and enhance the traveller experience by reducing wait times and streamlining the check-in and baggage processes,” the minister said.

In explaining the process, Minister Henderson noted that with the common-use platforms, airlines would be able to set up from any terminal to serve their clients. This eliminates the need for terminals to be designated solely for use by a specific airline.

This, she said, became even more necessary as the destination recently introduced the services of JetBlue, Cape Air, Caribbean Airlines, InterCaribbean and Sunrise Airways.

“This innovation underscores SCASPA’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions for the benefit of both internal stakeholders and external customers,” said Tourism Minister Henderson.
