Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis (8 October, 2025) – On 3rd October, Her Excellency Linda Charlotte Te Puni, New Zealand High Commissioner to Saint Kitts and Nevis, paid a courtesy called on The Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs et al, following the presentation of her Letter of Introduction to the Honourable Prime Minister, Dr. Terrance Drew.
The Foreign Minister welcomed Her Excellency Te Puni and conveyed the gratitude of the Government for New Zealand’s efforts in enhancing cooperation with Saint Kitts and Nevis. The Minister expressed that it is an opportunity to strengthen the relations as both governments endeavour to deepen and diversify the level of cooperation between them.
During the engagement, High Commissioner Te Puni indicated that she is delighted to take on her new role as she looks forward to working with the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis. She emphasized New Zealand’s multilateral initiatives that support cooperation with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), promoting the development of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) on matters such as natural disaster risk prevention and management, renewable energy and climate smart agriculture.
Foreign Minister Douglas expressed his appreciation for New Zealand’s proactive engagement with the region and identified trainings, infrastructure development and tourism as promising avenues for growth and collaboration.
As both Governments strive to maintain a strong and productive partnership, this meeting has laid the foundation for increased cooperation which would ultimately reap mutual benefits.
