The public will then be asked to tune in to other media houses including ZIZ for highly interactive sessions when they will be able to call in and weigh in on the proposed way forward for the Education sector in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Upcoming activities include an appearance on WINN FM’s voices on Friday November 18th at 11am; where the focus will be on the school curriculum and assessments of students, participation of students in school, and the quality of the teaching and learning environment.

On Monday 21st, a panel will be on Freedom Radio at 1:30pm to discuss the teaching profession, leadership and accountability in education, and efforts to improve.

On November 24th at 8:30pm, a round table discussion on the Monthly Education Programme on ZIZ will be held on the draft strategy in its entirety. The public is encouraged to call in with questions and comments on each of these occasions.

It is expected that other media houses will come on board as the public exercises and expresses its desire to stay abreast and help point the way forward in drafting the way forward for the educations sector’s policies which of course will impact every citizen of the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis.

What are we teaching? How are we teaching; Are teachers equipped to address issues relevant to the world in which we live? Are teachers well supported?; Are students being suitably prepared for the world beyond school? How will we move forward with assessment of our students? What are the strategies that are being put forward to address the issues relevant to Education? All these and more are questions that the Ministry hopes that the public will contribute to as they are presented with the draft strategy which has is being developed by local stakeholders with technical assistance from the UNESCOs International Institute of Education Planning.
