November 26, 2016 (SKNIS) — At Port Zante, His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales (Harry), smiled graciously as his arrival at the Marina at Port Zante was met with cheers and applause of several spectators and the local press who had gathered on November 23 expectantly waiting to see him.

Prince Harry was met as he alighted the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Wave Knight by the St. Kitts and Nevis Security Forces who introduced him to Governor General, His Excellency Sir Tapley Seaton, who arrived early as he is accustomed to for any official engagement, despite an erroneous headline of an article in The Telegraph titled “Prince Harry Docks at Port Zante in West Indies Tour so early there is no one to welcome him” written by Gordon Rayner.

Prince Harry was then escorted to the Port Zante Arrival Terminal where he was ushered to the saluting dais for a welcome ceremony that began promptly at 9:00 am, while the National Anthem of St. Kitts and Nevis, a country who claimed Independence from Great Britain on September 19, 1983, played. His Royal Highness was then treated to a military parade where he inspected the Guard of Honour and after that met scores of congregants including Deputy Prime Minister, the Honourable Shawn K. Richards, Members of the Cabinet, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Leader of the Opposition, other dignitaries, school children and cruise tourists who were delighted to see him as he mingled and interacted with them.

Prince Harry then left Port Zante for his other engagement, which was a Youth Rally at the historical Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, A UNESCO Heritage Site, where he was treated to several breathtaking performances by the youth of St. Kitts and Nevis. His engagements continued in Nevis, where he was met and greeted by Premier of Nevis, Honourable Vance Amory and his wife, Mrs. Amory, Members of the Nevis Island Administration, Deputy Governor General His Honour Mr. Eustace John, Leader of the Opposition, Honourable Joseph Parry, other Members of the Opposition, dignitaries, hundreds of school children and curious onlookers. The prince then attended an engagement at Lovers Beach in Nevis with the Nevis Turtle Group, led by Lemuel Pemberton, where he had the opportunity to visit turtle nesting sites and to support the local conservation efforts to protect leatherback turtles. He returned to St. Kitts later that evening where he was treated to a reception hosted in his honour by His Excellency Sir Tapley Seaton.
