Basseterre, St. Kitts – The 2017 HERO Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Player Draft was unveiled at a gala ceremony in Barbados on Friday March 10th, 2017 with some of the leading West Indian and international talent set to descend on the Caribbean this summer. Present at the launch alongside SKN Patriots CEO Richard Berridge, were team members Kieran Powell and Jonathan Carter.
Commenting on the team selection, Co-Owners Uday Nayak, Mohammed Ansari & Nirvan Veerasamy stated, “We are happy with the outcome of this year’s Player Draft in securing some of the most talented international and Caribbean cricketers”. They continued “We expect our well-rounded team to achieve improved performances in our 2017 CPL Campaign and bring the ultimate success that our country, fans and sponsors deserve”.
Cricketing Superstar Chris Gayle will lead the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots alongside South African Chris Morris and Australian Ben Cutting. SKN Patriots also made CPL history today by being the first team to bring Afghanistan representation to the CPL by drafting the all rounder Mohammad Nabi. Evin Lewis, Samuel Badree, Jonathan Carter, Tabraiz Shamsi, Brandon King, Devon Thomas, Sheldon Cotterell, Kieran Powell, Fabian Allen, Shamarh Brooks, Jeremiah Louis, Alzarri Joseph (Young W.I.), Nikhil Dutta (ICC Americas), Carlos Brathwaite (WICB ‘Free’), will also be wearing the Patriots colours this coming season.
