Great reviews have been received so far following the release of the last batch of artistes for the 21st Annual St. Kitts Music Festival, on Wednesday night, 5th April, at Boozie’s Bar on The Strip at Frigate Bay.
Ambassador Jonel Powell, to the delight of the audience, announced big names such as Ultimate Rejects out of Trinidad and Tobago, drawing loud applause.
But there also was great approval for such artistes as The Voice, Ricardo Drue, Teddyson John, Lyrikal, Square One with Alison Hinds, and for the first time at
the festival, a DJ is appearing on stage in the like of DJ Private Ryan. Also announced were King Mighty Chalkdust, recent sensation LAX & K-T,
Stadics, Rucas, Shanna, AkaiiUsweet, King Dis N Dat and King Calypso Craig. Then, for the first time on the Thursday night of the festival is the much
anticipated new Band Clash between Small Axe and Grand Masters, as selected by online voting from the public.
Although the NuVybes Band International generated the most votes, it is unfortunate, organizers say, they have indicated an inability to participate.
Powell said he is hoping that next year the NuVybes Band will be able to participate.
But in the party atmosphere at Boozie’s, many in the audience were wowed by such acts as Creedence Clearwater Revisited, Goo Goo Dolls, Shabba ranks
Das Igin, Hi Light and Third World, perhaps emphasizing there is a lot of variety in this year’s Music Festival, providing something for everyone.
Then there are artiste such as V. Bozeman, Ed Robinson, Jah Cure, Phyllisia and Briannagh D., all receiving positive reviews from the public.
“What we have got this year is a very wide selection of artistes covering various styles of music. We are trying to give everybody a do, so I want the public to come out and support the local acts,” said Powell.
A quick chat with people in the public produced comments such as, “It’s a fantastic line-up.” “Great! I love this year’s artistes.” “It’s a lot of acts.” and “Lots of my favorite singers are in there.”
The St. Kitts Music Festival takes place at Warner Park, June 22 to 24, 2017. It will be supported by several private entertainment events leading up to and
surrounding the dates of the festival.
