The Honourable Lindsay Grant, Minister with responsibility for Tourism, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, met with the St. Kitts and Nevis Coalition of Service Industry (SKNCSI) on Friday, 7th April 2017, as part of his Ministry’s drive to strengthen working relationship with the Ministry and the Coalition.

The meeting was attended by the Executive of the SKNCSI, including Mr. Lennox Warner who serves as Chair, and Ms. Telly Onu, Consultant attached to the Coalition. Also present were representatives of the Ministry of International Trade including Mrs. Jasemin Weeks, Director of Trade Research/Officer-in-Charge,

who chaired the meeting, and Mr. Philip Browne, Director of Industry, Commerce, and NEDD.

The SKNCSI was established in January 2016 as a non-profit organization, with its main objective being the provision of services, to enhance the competitiveness of the professional services sector in St. Kitts and Nevis. The SKNCSI aims to achieve recognition via strengthening the domestic regulatory environment, while developing export capabilities and sectoral alliances, and cooperation in order to achieve economies of scale and economies of scope.

The meeting discussed a number of matters critical to the continued survival of the SKNCSI including:

  •   The National and Regional position on services in the Federation
  •   Key Priorities for 2017
  •   The official launch of the SKNCSI

In addition to the foregoing, an in-depth progress report of the Coalition’s Establishment was also reviewed. The meeting engaged in fruitful discussions, and concluded with Minister Grant’s commitment to the ultimate realization of the SKNCSI.
