A search warrant executed on a residence in Carifesta Village resulted in the discovery and seizure of ninety-eight (98) rounds of .9mm ammunition.  Four persons were at the residence and one (1) was taken into custody and is likely to be charged.

Follow up investigations resulted in the discovery and seized one (1) Taurus 9.mm pistol and seven (7) rounds of ammunition hidden in bushes along the Frigate Bay.  Three (3) persons are in custody in relation to that find.

This seizure brings to twenty-two (22) the number of illegal firearms seized so far in 2017, and is the ninth (9) to be seized this month.

Commissioner of Police Mr. Ian M. Queeley,  stated, “the continued success by our officers in removing illegal firearms from our communities is a result of two main factors;  intelligence led Policing and an unwavering commitment by our Officers to Citizen Safety.”  Commissioner Queeley added, “as we continue our efforts,  a partnership with the community is essential, and so I am echoing my call for citizens to get involved in our get the guns off the streets campaign.”

The Commissioner noted, “gun violence must be reduced, and only working hand in hand, Police and Community we will have the impact that we all want to see.”  Commissioner Queeley reminded, “If you See Something,  Say Something”.

The general public can share information with the Police by calling any Police Station, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477(TIPS) or by using the SKN Crime Reporter App on your Smartphone.
