TWO CHARGED IN WEEKEND ILLEGAL FIREARM FIND

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT LEADS TO SEIZURE OF YET ANOTHER ILLEGAL FIREARM AND ARREST OF PERPETRATOR

  Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 24, 2017 (RSCNPF):  Two of the  persons taken into custody overnight Friday (May 19) in relation to the discovery of  ninety eight (98) rounds of ammunition and an illegal firearm with seven (7) rounds have been arrested, formally charged and cautioned.

Arrested and charged are Jonell Merritt of Carifesta Village and Lebron Walters of Olando Drive, Frigate Bay.

Jonell Merritt of Carifesta Village was arrested and charged for the offences of Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition which was committed at Carifesta Village.  He was found with ninety eight (98) rounds of ammunition during the execution of a search warrant on his residence. 

Lebron Walters of Olando Drive, Frigate Bay was arrested and charged for the offences of Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition after the discovery and seizure of an illegal firearm and seven (7) rounds of ammunition.  He was granted bail in the amount of $20,000 for his appearance in court on June 12, 2017. Bail was granted on the following conditions: to surrender all travel documents and to report to the Basseterre Police Station every Friday between 6am-6pm.
