BASSETERRE (7TH Nov., 2017): St. Kitts welcomed the sixth newest cruise ship for the season, when the Mein Schiff 6 visited the destination on Mondaywith a maximum capacity of 2,534 passengers.

The Mein Schiff 6 is owned by the German cruise line, TUI Cruises, and is expected to make three more visits to the island in this cruise season. In German “Mein Schiff” means “My Ship”, and St. Kitts has received calls from Mien Schiff 1, Mien Schiff 2, Mien Schiff 3, Mien Schiff 4 and the Mien Schiff 5.

Minister of Tourism The Hon. Lindsay F.P. Grant said the first-time arrival of the of the Mien Schiff 6 is testament to the continuing appeal of St. Kitts as a vibrant and authentic Caribbean destination.

“It is indeed a pleasure to welcome another Mein Schiff ship to the island, as we continue to work hard to deliver a world-class experience for our guests,” Minister Grant said.

The Mien Schiff 6 was built with environmentally friendly power plants and energy efficient solutions that reduce emissions by 30 percent in comparison to other cruise ships of similar size.

Minister Grant recently returned from the FCCA Conference, where he met with cruise line executives to strengthen partnerships, and attract more cruise ships to the destination.

On Sunday four cruise ships called on St. Kitts with a maximum capacity of close to 10,000 passengers. Cruise ships are scheduled to make more than 70 calls to the island this month, November.

The Mien Schiff 6 is the sixth ship to arrive to St. Kitts for the first time. A total of 12 new ships will start calls to the destination in this cruise season, which is projected to bring more than million passengers to St. Kitts.
