The CARICOM Marijuana Commission will be conducting a Town Hall meeting in the Federation on Thursday November 16, 2017 at the Wesley Methodist Church Hall, Seaton Street, Basseterre from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The general public is invited to this meeting. The CARICOM Marijuana Commission was established by the decision of the CARICOM Conference of Heads of Government at its 35th Regular Meeting held July 1-4, 2014, and has been mandated to:
(1) Conduct a rigorous enquiry into the social, economic, health and legal issues surrounding marijuana use in the Caribbean, and to determine whether there should be a change in the current drug classification of marijuana thereby making the drug more accessible for recreational, religious, research and medical use; and
(2) Recommend if there is to be a re-classification of the drug and, if so, what would be the applicable legal and administrative conditions for such.
The outcome of these consultative meetings throughout the region will inform the preparation of a comprehensive report of the findings and recommendations to be presented to the CARICOM Heads of Government for their deliberation and decision.
All members of the public in St. Kitts and Nevis are invited to participate in the scheduled Town Hall meeting
