The final roster of artistes, who will appear on the 2018 edition of the St. Kitts Music Festival, will be announced on Friday, 16th February, at a special ceremony on Bank Street, Basseterre.
In addition to the artistes roster, the event will also see the launch of the festival’s new website, and will signal the start of on-line ticket sales and a new price structure for festival tickets.
Officials at the St. Kitts Music Festival also hinted that this year there will be significant benefits for persons who purchase their tickets early through the online discounts that would be provided leading up to the month of the festival.
In keeping with the new thrust to plan the festival earlier, the festival organisers have addressed an issue raised in the past.
One of the concerns raised over the years by potential visitors and local fans focused on what use to be the late announcements of performing artistes.
Potential overseas visitors, in particular, will therefore welcome the early announcement, as it will assist them greatly in making their travel plans to come to St. Kitts.
It was a result of recognising these concerns that Minister of Tourism Lindsay Grant, under whose portfolio the Music Festival falls, since 2015 had given the undertaking that such delayed announcements will become a thing of the past in the new marketing strategies of the festival.
It was therefore in pursuance of that mandate that the Committee, under the chairmanship of Damion Hobson, on 21st December, 2017, revealed the first wave of artistes for the 2018 festival, some seven months ahead of the festival, which is scheduled from 27th June to 1st July.
During that announcement, the Committee confirmed the coming appearances of Patti LaBelle, Ms Lauryn Hill and Spice for the 2018 festival. There was very strong and positive feedback from the public who hailed the three artistes announced in December, and commended the festival organisers for keeping their promise of earlier releases.
Similar sentiments are expected now that the organisers are about to release the entire roster of all the artistes, who will be appearing on each of the three nights of concerts at Warner Park.
A source indicated, also, that this year’s line-up will appeal to a wide audience, catering to the young and more matured festival goers.
“In other words,” said the source, “This year’s line up will be exciting, appealing and will have something for everyone.”
At Friday’s announcement, the organisers said there will be free ticket giveaways, for those attending, and the event will be streamed live on the Internet, and broadcast live on ZIZ Radio, WINN FM and Freedom FM.
