The National Volunteer Day initiative forms part of the extended week of activities commemorating the third year of the Team Unity Government, from February 15 to 25.

More than 30 groups, on both St. Kitts and Nevis, have so far expressed their intention to host several activities including beach clean-ups, tree planting exercises, delivering fruit baskets, organized hikes with youths and visits to the elderly.

“These things, simple as they are, are important in developing a society of love, of oneness, of caring and of solidarity,” Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris said in support of this initiative.

Dr. Harris added, “Volunteer day is expected henceforth to become an annual event, and we want to see it grow and blossom, and that the things that we practice to do on volunteer day in particular, we would do them every day or as often as we can.”

The Team Unity third anniversary extended week of activities is being observed under the theme, “Opening Doors and Creating Opportunities Through Service and Empowerment.”
