Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 07, 2018 (SKNIS): Reigning National Swimsuit Queen from Sugar Mas 46, Ms. Jackiema Flemming, received funding in the sum of EC$11,000 from the Ministry of Culture to support her travels to Anguilla to participate in the Miss Venus Model Pageant taking place on June 30, where she will represent the Federation as an ambassador.

At a brief Handing Over Ceremony on June 07, Minister of Culture, Deputy Prime Minister Honourable Shawn Richards said that participants from St. Kitts and Nevis have won the pageant two years in a row and it is his hope that Ms. Flemming will return the crown to St. Kitts a third consecutive year.

“I am told that St. Kitts is only one of two islands which would have won the crown back to back. It is time for us to now make history and to distinguish ourselves by being the only island to have won the crown for three consecutive years. I have no doubt that Miss Flemming with her wealth of stage experience is quite capable of returning the crown to the Federation,” he added.

Minister Richards also explained that this year’s pageant is especially unique because the winner will receive a scholarship as one of the prizes. He also wished Ms. Flemming every success in the pageant and pledged the support of the Ministry in every step of the way.

“I want to take the opportunity to wish you the very best in your participation in this pageant. Of course, the Federation will be giving you support but the support is not just coming from the Government and the National Carnival Committee but I know the fans out there will also be giving you support,” he stated.

He commended the  National Carnival Committee for its continued support over the years for ambassadors who have travelled to represent the country and who have developed themselves as artists on the regional stage.

Ms. Flemming echoed her thanks to the minister and the National Carnival Committee for their support in making it possible for her to compete in the upcoming pageant.

“I would like to take this opportunity to extend extreme gratitude to the honourable minister and to the chairman of the National Carnival Committee. I am very excited to participate in the Miss Venus Model Competition and I will definitely make St. Kitts and Nevis proud,” she said.
