The CSME is an arrangement among CARICOM Member States for the creation of a single enlarged economic space through the removal of several restrictions, resulting in the free movement of goods, services, persons, capital and technology.
The regional initiative is the sole item up for discussion on the agenda at the December 3-4meeting in Port of Spain.
Senior Minister Amory is representing Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris at the high-level Prime Ministerial meeting.
Minister Amory is accompanied by Special Envoy in the Office of the Prime Minister, His Excellency Ambassador Michael Powell; Mr. Samuel Berridge, Senior Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Senior Clerk in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ms. Lyndis Harris.
At their 39th Regular Meeting held in Jamaica in July, 2018 CARICOM Heads agreed upon the Special Meeting to address critical issues regarding the implementation of the CSME, as regional leaders seek to return the CSME conversation to CARICOM’s “active agenda.”
At that meeting, CARICOM Heads reviewed the operation of the CSME and reiterated the need to accelerate its implementation by placing greater focus on advancing the areas which would help to create enabling support measures for a competitive Single Market.
