Mr Creighton Pencheon is a retired Director of Culture. While serving in that capacity he pioneered many areas of research into folklore and oversaw many important cultural activities and events.
Mr Pencheon was a calypsonian who participated in many calypso competitions as the “The Mighty Crusader”. He is also an acclaimed folk figure as “Papa George” appearing in television Ads promoting conversations.
His main activity has been as a composer of calypso especially for the King Astro. King Astro’s calypsos are always quite patriotic and history filled. They are a call to nation-building and have been successfully performed lifting King Astro to be a regular finalist in the National Carnival calypso competitions and Culturama.
Mr Pencheon has also been involved in several musical groups by accompanying them with the guitar and drums.
A conscientious and patriotic citizen, the name Creighton Pencheon is well and truly part of this Nation’s rich history.
