Basseterre, St. Kitts, Monday, 11th February, 2019, (MyVueNews.com) – It is truly shaping up to be an epic experience for the 2019 St. Kitts Music Festival.
The good news just keeps coming as the popularity and stardom of the booked artistes, continue to soar.
The latest, is the remarkable feat of Ella Mai, who on Sunday night, (10th February, 2019), won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Song, “Boo’d Up”.
Ella Mai will be appearing at the St. Kitts Music Festival on Saturday, 29th June, as part of a star studded line up that also includes, reggae sensation Buju Banton, Smokey Robinson, (who was also at the Grammys), Omari Banks of Anguilla, Mapy and Melanin from St. Kitts.
Ella Mai’s song defeated challenges from other major acts and selections like “Come Through and Chill” by Miguel (Jermaine Cole, Miguel Pimentel and Salaam Remi), “Feels Like Summer” by Childish Gambino (Donald Glover and Ludwig Göransson), “Focus” by H.E.R. (Darhyl Camper Jr., Gabriella Wilson and Justin Love) and “Long as I Live” by Toni Braxton (Paul Boutin, Toni Braxton and Antonio Dixon).
The 61st edition of the Grammys was hosted at the Staples Center in Los Angeles California.
The award was won last year by Bruno Mars, who many have also been hoping would one day grace the stage of the festival.
Other greats who have won the Best R&B Song have included John Legend, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Maxwell, Justin Timberlake
The St. Kitts Music Festival runs from Wednesday, 26th June, with the hosting of a Welcome Party for the artistes and the popular Escape Fete hosted at Christophe Harbour’s Salt Plage, and continues with concert nights from Thursday to Saturday. The festival ends on Sunday, 30th June, with White Sands at Carambola.
This is the 23rd edition of the festival, which started in 1996.
