Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 29, 2021 (SKNIS): The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) has issued 282 tickets to persons who have breached the COVID-19 Regulations, said Superintendent of Police Cromwell Henry, during Leadership Matters on June 29, 2021.
“The police have been very busy enforcing the restrictions under the Regulations. To date, we have issued 282 tickets to persons for failing to wear their masks in public and for hosting or attending social events that were not authorized. Thirty-three persons have been arrested so far for breaching the nightly curfew,” said Superintendent Henry.
Equally important, Superintendent Henry noted that since the restriction of movement was implemented, the online curfew e-pass portal has been kept very busy processing applications for passes to allow persons to be out during the lockdown or limited days of operations.
“Over the last three days, we have received almost 600 applications and 2, 400 applications over the last month,” he said. “We urge you to be more disciplined and resist the urge to apply for a pass to go out if you can avoid it. Remember, the reason for the restrictions is to prevent the spread of the virus because the more you move the more the virus moves with you.”
On June 25, Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, announced a complete 24-hour lockdown from 6:00 p.m Sunday, June 27 to 5:00 a.m. Thursday, July 01. On Thursday, July 01 and Friday, July 02, there will be a limited movement for limited operation of essential businesses from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and a return to full 24-hour lockdown from 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 02 to Thursday, July 08.
The Federation will again have limited movement for essentials on Thursday, July 08 and Friday, July 09 from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on both days and return to 24-hour lockdown on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 July.
Under the restrictions, only essential workers, persons with medical emergencies, or persons exempted by the commissioner of police are permitted to be on the road during the complete lockdown.
